Working pattern
Working hours will vary so that the postholder is available when young people are available. The role will include some evening, weekend and school holiday work, including outreach, workshops, trips and project activity.
Role split
- 3 days per week leading coordination and delivery of Street Reach.
- 2 days per week coordinating and delivering smaller Element Society projects
- Workshops, trips, outreach activity, youth voice work and project administration as allocated.
- The postholder is expected to remain actively involved in direct delivery with young people. This is not a desk-only coordination role.
Job purpose
This role will plan, coordinate and deliver programmes for the benefit of young people, with a primary focus on the Street Reach programme.
The role will lead the day-to-day coordination of Street Reach, including outreach, building-based engagement, delivery planning, partner relationships, safeguarding practice, evidence capture and reporting. The postholder will also use part of their time to coordinate and deliver smaller youth projects across Element Society.
The role needs someone active, organised, digitally competent and confident with young people. The postholder must be able to follow a project plan, keep delivery on track, record impact properly, build relationships with partners and bring young people into positive activity at Element Society.
Key responsibilities
Street Reach coordination and delivery
- Lead the day-to-day coordination of the Street Reach programme.
- Plan and organise weekly delivery activity, including outreach, building-based sessions, youth engagement activity and follow-up work.
- Work directly with young people through outreach, relationship-building, workshops, group work and informal engagement.
- Support young people to move from street-based or community contact into positive activity at Yorkshire House.
- Keep delivery aligned with the project plan, timetable, targets and reporting requirements.
- Work closely with the Youth Engagement Officer, Project Assistant, sessional workers, volunteers and specialist providers.
Wider project coordination
- Coordinate and deliver smaller projects as allocated by senior management.
- Plan and deliver workshops, trips, youth voice activity, outreach sessions and engagement activity.
- Support project mobilisation, delivery timetables, registers, risk assessments, evaluation and reporting.
- Follow up enquiries, referrals and participation opportunities promptly.
Youth engagement and relationships
- Build positive, trusted and professional relationships with young people.
- Engage young people from different backgrounds, including those who may be harder to reach or less likely to access structured provision.
- Listen to young people and capture their views, voice and opinions throughout their involvement.
- Maintain clear professional boundaries at all times.
Partnerships, monitoring and reporting
- Build and maintain positive relationships with schools, community groups, youth services, police, local partners and referral organisations.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, contacts, engagement, outcomes, referrals and follow-up actions.
- Use digital systems, spreadsheets, shared documents and project tools confidently.
- Capture evidence of impact, including young people’s feedback, case study material, progression, achievements and partner feedback.
- Support internal reporting, funder reporting and project appraisals.
Staff, budgets and practical delivery
- Support staff, volunteers and sessional workers involved in allocated projects.
- Make sure people involved in delivery have clear roles, briefings and expectations.
- Support responsible management of project budgets and expenditure.
- Support practical arrangements for activities, workshops, trips and youth sessions.
- Contribute to risk assessments for activities and visits.
Safeguarding, health and safety
- Work within Element Society’s safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
- Put the welfare of children and young people before the success of any project, activity or organisational reputation.
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns promptly.
- Complete required training, including safeguarding and first aid.
