Role purpose

The Project Worker plays a key role in supporting vulnerable adults who access Ben’s Centre. This includes contributing to the delivery of services, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, and supporting the development of projects and outreach activities.

In this role, you will work within the day centre alongside colleagues to support clients in accessing essential services. This includes providing meals and refreshments, facilitating access to centre facilities such as washing and showering, and distributing essential items including clothing, toiletries, and sleeping bags. You will also offer practical support and guidance, assist clients in accessing relevant services, and facilitate referrals to health professionals and other external agencies where appropriate.

  • Provide support and advocacy to clients.
  • Assist in day-to-day running of the centre.
  • Build professional relationships with clients.
  • Support trips and activities.
  • Assist with outreach and marketing.
  • Follow policies and procedures.
  • Undertake relevant training.
  • Lead projects when required.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Experience working with vulnerable adults or similar groups
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles

 

Desirable:

  • Experience in outreach or community engagement
  • Knowledge of substance misuse, homelessness, or mental health issues
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., health & social care)
