Summary of role
We are excited to be expanding the marketing and communications team at Roundabout! As Communications Assistant, you’ll play a key role in helping tell Roundabout’s story and showcase the life-changing impact of our work.
This is a hands-on, creative role where you’ll help bring Roundabout’s work to life through social media, photography, video, design, and storytelling. You’ll spend time visiting services and attending fundraising events, capturing real stories and moments that demonstrate the impact of our work. You’ll create engaging content, spot new trends, design eye-catching graphics, and help grow our online community!
If you’re someone who loves social media, enjoys being creative, and wants to use your skills to make a meaningful difference, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop your career while making a genuine difference to the lives of young people at risk of homelessness.
Key Accountabilities
Social Media:
Manage and schedule varied content across all social media platforms, ensuring consistent engagement to build relationships with followers and supporters. Research and improve social posts and engagement where necessary, responding to current trends and keeping updated with social media’s changes.
Graphic Design:
Create eye-catching designs for social media that align with Roundabout’s branding and positive tone of voice.
Photography & Videography:
Organise and photograph staff, young people, volunteers and projects for use on social media, press releases, leaflets, letters & marketing materials. Ensure consent is given and recorded for everyone featuring in photographs and videos.
Storytelling:
Meet with young people and staff to gather stories and experiences, working sensitively and professionally to create authentic content that showcases the impact of Roundabout’s services. Ensure all necessary consent forms are completed, outlining where and how information can be shared. Maintain accurate records of consent and update them regularly to ensure compliance and ethical storytelling.
Cultural Calendar & Awareness Dates:
Research and identify key cultural, awareness, and celebration dates that align with the charity’s values and mission. Communicate these dates to the wider organisation, ensuring opportunities for engagement are maximised. Design and create engaging graphics and content to mark these occasions on digital platforms, and where possible, showcase young people’s participation in related activities through photos, stories, or quotes to foster inclusivity and community engagement.
