Children and Family Domestic Abuse Worker (Dispersed Accommodation)

Sheffield Women’s Aid (SWA) is one of the leading domestic abuse organisations in Sheffield.    SWA believes that every woman and child has the right to live free from all forms of violence and abuse and has been supporting hundreds of women and children every year since 1974.

As a Children and Family Domestic Abuse Worker you will be given the exciting opportunity to work with children & young people living within SWA Dispersed Accommodation around the Sheffield area. You will make a positive difference to young lives by offering individualised, trauma-informed support.

This is a fixed term contract until March 2029.

Who we’re looking for

A woman who is active, enthusiastic, confident and ready for a new opportunity in a role that makes a real impact.

She will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience of working with / supporting children and families who have lived with trauma.

    Ability to provide a personalised programme of support to families (mothers and children) impacted by domestic abuse and living within our safe accommodation.

  • Confident to work independently in the local community as this role requires travel to various locations for support meetings and client visits.

  • A full driving licence and access to a car with business insurance (This is essential).

  • Awareness of safety planning and risk assessing.

  • An understanding of domestic abuse and it’s impact on the lives of women and children.

  • Experience of safeguarding procedures and processes (both children and adults).

  • Confident in working and liaising with external agencies to maximise support for children and families.

  • Excellent communication and record keeping skills.

  • Ability to use ICT.

  • Ability to work on a rota including early (08:30 – 4:30) and later (11:00 – 19:00) shifts;   Being flexible to meet the needs of children and young people living in our Dispersed Accommodation.
