Role Purpose
The Rapid Rehousing team is based on the Housing First model. The team offer accommodation and a support worker for people aged 18-25 who are homeless and have experienced sleeping on the street. The young people that come into the service often have multiple and complex needs including mental health, physical health and substance misuse.
As a support worker, you will have a caseload of young people to support in a trauma informed and person-centred way. This involves working with internal teams within Roundabout as well as key external stakeholders to help young people develop independent living skills, build trust, maintain a tenancy, build confidence and thrive.
This role entails working with young people in their properties or in the community. You will create risk assessments and support plans for the young people you support. You are often lone working and will have to assess risk dynamically. You are fully supported by a Team Leader and a Service Manager
Key Accountabilities
Using psychologically informed techniques, offer personalised, creative, innovative and effective ways to support to build trust with young people.
Help to build young people’s confidence, resilience, personal worth, motivation, and emotional well-being.
Work in an inclusive way, empowering young people to achieve
Ensure all paperwork is completed and all systems are updated with accurate information and in line with general data protection regulations (GDPR).
To create and use risk assessments, to understand and manage risk, ensuring the quality of support plans.
To support the move-in process for young people into Roundabout properties and facilitate the transaction from homelessness to being housed.
To have an understanding of the key principles working under the Housing First model, how this differs from conventional key working, what skills you need to have to work in this way.

To work within the safeguarding protocols
Other duties
This will include some cleaning of properties, collecting stock for the accommodation and supporting the setting up of homes for young people. Supporting the team when needed.
Person Specification
Specific Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Attributes
To have an understanding of the housing first model, and the ability apply it in the role.
Ability to manage concurrent projects and work under pressure
Excellent attention to detail and a highly organised approach to work
Experience supporting a chaotic client group who may have experienced homelessness
Positive working relationships across statutory and non-statutory services citywide
Working knowledge of issues faced by people who have a history of rough sleeping.
Experience of needs assessments, support plans and working in a strength-based way to support individuals to set goals and reach their aspirations
