We’re looking for a passionate Advocacy Manager to drive our independent advocacy and information services while mentoring a dedicated team of professionals, providing Maternity Cover for our current Advocacy Manager. As a key member of our management team and our Designated Safeguarding Lead, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring high-quality support and empowering our community to be heard.

Job Details

Job title: Advocacy Manager

Office Location: The Circle, 33 Rockingham Lane, Sheffield, S1 4FW

Salary: £32,000 p.a.

Pension: 6% employer contribution

2% employee contribution (minimum)

Hours: 28 hours per week

Contract Type: Fixed term – 12 months Maternity Leave cover

Reports to: Chief Executive

Line management: Advocacy and Information Service staff

Disability Sheffield Centre for Independent Living is a ‘not for profit’ pan-impairment organisation driven by people who self-define as disabled people, whether they have a physical disability, a sensory impairment, a mental health condition or learning difficulties.

 

We support disabled adults to make their voice heard, whether through individual advocacy and information services or through a range of projects seeking to ensure disabled people are at the heart of all decision making across Sheffield.

Main Purpose of the Job

To be accountable for the delivery, promotion and development of an independent advocacy and information service for disabled people. The Advocacy Manager will work to deliver an effective, efficient and high-quality service by managing, supervising and supporting individual advocates, the information officer and the collective team. They will help all advocates to develop high degrees of competence in their practice by acting as a mentor / role model and through performance management and professional development. The Advocacy Manager is also part of the wider Disability Sheffield management team and the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
